Hearthstone at Sugar Mountain | Boone, NC

Hearthstone at Sugar Mountain is a modern mountain home outside of Boone, NC. Less than two miles from the Sugar Mountain Ski Resort — the goal for Ketchum Interiors was to design and modernize an outdated property still reflecting the 1990's.

We focused on a guest-centric design approach for active families and couples interested in skiing, hiking, mountain biking and fishing in western NC.

There were several key factors in the design to consider:
1. Textured walls
2. Reuse some of the existing furniture
3. A steep slope
4. Old mismatched flooring

We worked with the owner systematically on each issue — design meeting after design meeting and developed a design palette different than other properties on Sugar Mountain. Our design approach took into consideration how each guest would interact at the property — exterior offerings like the sauna and hot tub, the large decks, fire pit and play area. Interior offerings include two game rooms for different age groups, and reusing an existing bar area and updating it.

Guest touches included a fully loaded kitchen with high-end appliances, easy seating, comfortable and modern beds, new flooring and more.

Ketchum Interiors always takes the extra steps to ensure an STR property addresses the needs of the guest and anticipates what they may need. We designed Hearthstone at Sugar Mountain to be a timeless mountain home with pops of color reflective of the North Carolina woods. ROI is expected to increase up to 50% or more in the coming year.
